LGBTIQ+ Volunteering in Mainstream Organisations: Barriers and How to Address Them
LGBTIQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, intersex and queer) people can face significant day-to-day barriers in bringing their whole selves to a workplace, whether as a volunteer or paid worker. Yet very few studies have focused on the experience of LGBTIQ+ volunteers in mainstream (non-LGBTIQ+) organisations and how to address these barriers. In this feature article, Sarah Collins shares her experiences about this important topic and gives some great practical tips to Volunteer Engagement professionals on how to better create an inclusive environment for this group to flourish as volunteers.

Mon, 08/14/2023Hi Susan,
Great article and a really good summary of lots of different elements of inclusion. Am I able to share this with my broader team? They don't all have Engage logins (another 3-4 of us do), so unsure if that is allowed?
Thanks
Lachlan
