Katelyn Kerker (Katie) is originally from a small rural town south of Buffalo, N.Y., and recently completed a year of service (2018 - 2019) as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Community Resource Center in Denver, Colorado. She earned her M.A. in International Development with a focus on Conflict Resolution and post-conflict peacebuilding from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 2018. She is currently the Communications and Marketing Manager for the Academy for Human Rights, an organization dedicated to educating Western New York youth on social justice and world issues while providing the students with the tools needed to ignite change in their communities. Kerker also has over 10 years of experience working in academic and public libraries. Working at her local public library throughout high school and college exposed her to the issues rural communities have accessing information and services and how important libraries and their services are to every community. When she's not working you can find Katie exploring the shelves of her local library to find her next great read or hiking the beautiful Colorado mountains with her dog, Clutch.
