Elevating Volunteer Perspectives: A Valuable Resource
On a scale of 1 to 10, would you recommend your organization to a friend? Would your volunteers? Incorporating this question into your volunteer survey – along with an open-ended question asking for suggestions on how your organization could improve or enhance the volunteer experience – could provide you with valuable information on the effectiveness of your volunteer program, according to a key finding of the study Laurie Mook reviews in Research to Practice. The researchers in this study conducted a qualitative analysis of open-ended responses from almost 8,000 volunteers affiliated with a single national nonprofit. They identified four distinct groups of volunteers based on their level of satisfaction, key volunteer management themes of concern for each, and offer insights for volunteer resource managers.
