Walter Tuset of Uruguay got involved with volunteering only about a year ago. He and six other people created a foundation called "Internet Solidaria." "We imagine Latin America as a place where solidarity plays an important role in the economic, social and cultural development," he said. To achieve that, Internet Solidaria plans to integrate and manage a virtual community among participating organizations and support those organizations through the application of managerial tools. Walter is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from the Universidad Católica del Uruguay. Since 1995, he has been in a professional partnership that specializes in business process improvement, with a focus on service organizations (e.g., financial institutions and government). He also is an associate professor of Cost Management at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay and is a lecturer in business process improvement courses at the Instituto de Gestión Empresarial.
