Jan has been with Living History Farms, a 550-acre, open-air museum for 17 years—the last 15 as coordinator of Volunteer Services.
She has attended and participated in a number of educational offerings over the years, including a local community college’s Volunteer Management Specialist Certificate Program, and an Advanced Volunteer Management Training offered by Susan Ellis.
She has been a presenter on aspects of volunteer management at the Iowa Conference on Volunteerism and at local and national museum conferences.
She is currently ad-hoc chair of DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) and is past secretary, vice chair and chair. She recently received the DOVIA award in 2006 for helping foster volunteerism in her community.
Jan has also engaged in a variety of volunteer activities over the years, including: serving on a number of boards; special events volunteer at a local science museum; special events volunteer for local fundraisers; and helping with a reading program at an elementary school.
