Since June 2007, Ann Merrill has been working as UNV Programme Officer in Ukraine. Her main objective is to work with UN Agencies and partner organisations to promote and support volunteerism and the UN Volunteers programme in Ukraine.
A native of Columbus, Ohio (U.S.A.), Merrill has a life-long history of both volunteering and managing volunteer programs. She has been a UNV Volunteer/Community Development Specialist with the UNDP Chernobyl Recovery and Development Programme since October 2005. Prior to that, Merrill served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Moldova, where she worked primarily with youth initiatives and supporting the village mayor's office. Prior to that, she worked for 10 years at Ohio State University in a variety of capacities, including advising numerous student organisations and volunteer-involving initiatives.
