Sue Kobar is the Manager of Volunteering for IHC New Zealand (
www.ihc.org.nz). She has been involved in the voluntary sector since 1981 when she first became a volunteer for the United States Navy Relief Society in Fallon, Nevada. After moving to Hawaii, Kobar was appointed to develop an in-service volunteer programme for Wahiawa General Hospital. She soon found her passion for volunteer leadership and programme management and has worked in the sector ever since.
Kobar has served on numerous boards and is noted for her extensive work in co-writing and coordinating the inaugural Certificate in Volunteer Management-Hawaii. In 2005, Kobar was recognized for her work in the voluntary sector and received the Network of Volunteer Leaders-Hawaii Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contributions in the field of volunteerism.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Hawaii Pacific University; Associates in Art and Associate in Human Services degrees and a certificate in Volunteer Management from Washington State University. Kobar was recently sworn in as a Justice of the Peace in Christchurch, New Zealand.
