Mark A. Hager, Ph.D., is emeritus professor of nonprofit leadership and management at Arizona State University. He is co-leader of Assessing Diversity and Equity in Volunteer Inclusion, which is funded by AmeriCorps (a U.S. federal government agency).
Hager was on the teaching faculty at ASU from to 2008 to 2022. Before moving to Phoenix, he was a senior research associate in the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute, a Washington D.C. think tank.
His research includes studies of the scope, dimensions, administration, and financial operations of and reporting by nonprofit organizations. Hager earned his doctorate in organizational sociology at the University of Minnesota with a study of the causes of nonprofit organization closure.
Hager is now headquartered from his home office in Houston, where he works on a small assortment of projects geared toward building the nonprofit sector.
