Richard Fernandes is a freshman at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, where he is continuing a busy schedule of classes and student community service leadership. He has just been promoted to regional director of Spark The Wave: Igniting Teen Volunteers (http://www.sparkthewave.org/) and next semester will become an intern for Idealist on Campus (http://idealistoncampus.org/).
Richard was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he was chosen to become “A Better Chance Scholar” at Lower Merion High School (2000-2004). His resume of past volunteer work includes being a Teen Peer HIV/AIDS Educator (certified by the American Red Cross); solicitor at Taste Of Lower Merion Fund Raiser; summer camp counselor, delegate and board member for Youth Wave; Special Olympics; and founding Webmaster for A Better Chance (http://www.abetterchance.org/).
