Mary Faley has worked with the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) since 2004, most recently as the Field Director for the Southeast Region. In this capacity, she works with Alzheimer’s Chapters to increase their capacity to provide programs and services and fund those activities. Volunteer leadership development, particularly at the board level, is critical and Mary spends significant time training key special event volunteers and staff members for a nationally branded event, the Memory Walk (http://www.alz.org/memorywalk/overview.asp).
Prior to her work with the Alzheimer’s Association, Mary worked with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org) as the Chapter President for the state of Georgia. In this role, she managed the overall operations of the chapter. The National MS Society is very mass market event driven as most of the funds for operations are derived from two major events: The MS Walk and the MS150 Bike Tour. As you can imagine, the successful implementation of these events rested on the ability of Mary and her team to recruit, train, and cultivate large numbers of volunteers.
Prior to working with the National MS Society, Mary was the Executive Director for the USO of Illinois whose mission is near and dear to her heart as she was an Army brat growing up and served as an Army Officer prior to getting involved in the nonprofit sector! She resides in the Orlando, Florida area and has a very spirited 16-year-old daughter.
