Brenda Clifton is Director of the Volunteer Center of the Pikes Peak Region (Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA) and was, in addition, recently appointed Co-Director of the Chamber Nonprofit Partnership. Before joining the Volunteer Center in 1998, Brenda started and managed the United Way Volunteer Resource Center Eastern, a satellite center of the United Way in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Brenda is an experienced national trainer and facilitator with a background in Volunteer Center start-up, program development, community collaboration, training, consultation, effective committee/board utilization, volunteer administration and management, marketing, and developmental disabilities advocacy. She attended the Volunteer Management Academy at the University of Colorado , and received her Certification in Volunteer Management from Northern Kentucky University. Brenda is a 2001 graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership Community Leadership program. She is past president of VOLUNTEER Ohio, a statewide volunteer leadership program.
Brenda serves as a trainer for the Nonprofit Management Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs , and has trained for the Points of Light Foundation and the Association for Volunteer Administration. She recently served as a member of the Volunteer Center National Network Council (VCNNC) for the Points of Light Foundation, and serves on their national Volunteer Center Start-Up Task Force. Brenda is past-Chair of the Colorado Volunteer Center Network and was appointed as a delegate to the United Nations for the International Year of the Volunteer.
She is a national judge for the Daily Points of Light Awards Program and served as Program Chair for the International Association of Volunteers (IAVA) 2002 Conference in Denver . She has been published nationally and has 19+ years of volunteer administration and nonprofit management experience.
