Liz Adamshick currently serves on the Senior Management Team of the Columbus AIDS Task Force (
http://www.catf.net/) in Columbus, Ohio, as the Director of Volunteer Services. She has worked in the field of volunteer management and administration for 23 years, in a variety of settings, including a recent 4½ year stint with The American Red Cross of Greater Columbus as the Director of Volunteer Resources. While at the Columbus Chapter, she designed and implemented a 6-step application process that has received national and international attention as a best practice and was included in a recent AVA New Member Orientation Manual.
She is also a nationally certified Red Cross instructor for courses on managing diversity and developing effective paid/volunteer staff relationships. Additional work experience includes serving as Volunteer Development Coordinator for Greater Columbus Habitat for Humanity, and youth/young adult ministry in both high school and university environments.
Central to her professional philosophy are utilizing solid systems administration practices to help “direct the traffic of selflessness,” building and maintaining organizational capacity to receive and support volunteer involvement, and unqualified respect for all involved in the service equation – volunteers, paid staff, and those we serve.
A graduate of Walsh University in Canton , Ohio , with a degree in Theology and Philosophy, Liz has facilitated sessions at local and national conferences on topics such as organizational readiness, developing effective application and screening processes, getting organized, tapping individual creativity, and developing effective communication skills. Additionally, her work as a preacher and motivational speaker have given her many humbling and educational experiences – she truly enjoys the opportunity to learn from whatever the present moment has to offer, even if the lesson is difficult.
Liz also has the good fortune of being married for 12 amazing years to a fundraising professional, and can attest to the success of collaboration between our two professions.
