Shaminda Perera, M.Ed., MJF

Shaminda Perera, M.Ed., MJF is an experienced practitioner in the volunteerism space since 2011 and in the Performance and Learning space since 2003. He approaches volunteer involvement from the perspectives of capacity-building of the volunteerism ecosystem, strategic Volunteer Engagement and modernizing volunteerism. Since 2017, he consults on strategic Volunteer Engagement, working with social purpose organizations/groups and Volunteer Engagement Leaders.

Since 2024, Perera coordinates the volunteer engagement function at the City of Mississauga. He served Volunteer Canada from 2022-2024, leading knowledge mobilization and learning. From 2012-2022, he has been consulting, supporting, and/or implementing Ontario-wide volunteerism projects. From 2011-2022, Perera served Volunteer MBC, the volunteer Centre serving Cities of Mississauga, Brampton and the Town of Caledon, during which time he centralized two of its services into their own departments - the Volunteer Referral Service and the Volunteer MBC Learning Centre.

Perera is the creator of the Volunteer Experience Framework and Service Excellence Blueprint.

Shaminda holds a Master of Education in Adult Education from Yorkville University, New Brunswick, and a Certificate in Volunteer Management from Sheridan College, Ontario.

He contributes to his community with volunteering and philanthropy through the Mississauga Cooksville Lions Club and Volunteer MBC.
