Volunteer Engagement Student to Executive Director: A Personal Journey
Leaders of volunteers come from many varied backgrounds and, between them, have taken almost every twist and turn possible on their way into the profession. In this Voices, we hear about the journey of Laurence Bolotin, who attended a graduate class in volunteer engagement almost 20 years ago and was inspired to make the field his career. What drew him to take the class? What did he hope it would contribute to his learning about community engagement? What inspired him? And where has this class led him? Bolotin shares his reflections in this journey from student to executive director, a role that still requires him to pull out his volunteer management text book.
