The Appeal of Collective Care Circles for Civic Engagement
Part Four of a Four-Part Series
During their recent, three-part Engage series into Care Circles, author Todd McMullin with Dana
Litwin and Joan Cardellino defined, described, taught and inspired readers of Engage with the
potential of harnessing this organic construct to address societal problems more effectively.
They’ve posited multiple ways to apply Care Circles’ principles in our volunteer communities
and programs.
Earlier this year, these authors realized that their Care Circles series actually needed a fourth and
final part. They met with Rob Jackson, Director of Rob Jackson Consulting Ltd and Engage’s
Editor-in-Chief, and Tony Goodrow, CEO of Better Impact, and they spoke at length to other
stakeholders in the VMS world, including Bill Cornett at VSys One and Craig Young from
Inspiring Service. Through these conversations and observations, the authors developed an
appeal for collective Care Circles for civic engagement “in order to truly harness the
superpowers of crowdsourcing and Care Circles, align these with the broader social trends and
assure Digital Governance standards are enforced.”
In the conclusion to this four-part series, the authors discuss the action that's required to meet the
objects they outline, and explain why their appeal requires a circle of passionate industry leaders
– which just might include you.
