Katie's PhotoKatie Campbell has worked in the field of volunteer resources management for 30 years as practitioner, author, trainer and leader.  Most recently she served as executive director of the Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA), the international professional association for leaders and managers of volunteer programs.  Prior to this position she was director of the Virginia Office of Volunteerism where she worked for 14 years.

Campbell's career began in 1973 at the Philadelphia Family Court where she helped develop an extensive volunteer program to provide support services to the probation officers and their young clients.  Since then she has provided training and technical assistance to volunteer program coordinators throughout North America, becoming well-known in the field.  She has authored and co-authored several articles and publications on the subject of volunteerism and volunteer management, including:  By the People:  A History of Americans as Volunteers, Children as Volunteers, and Opportunity or Dilemma:  Court-Referred Community Service Workers.  Campbell has served on the board of directors of several local, state and national organizations, and is a past president of AVA.  In 1996 she became Certified in Volunteer Administration through AVA's credentialing program, and now serves as part-time manager of that program.

Campbell's commitment to the profession of volunteer administration is reflected throughout her career, as is her passionate belief in the power and potential of volunteerism.
